The team behind the popular Telegram game Catizen has postponed the launch of the CATI token, which was supposed to take place in July.
Like Hamster Kombat, developers Catizen still working on the plan to launch CATI and airdrop tokens.
The creators of Catizen promised to launch the CATI coin in July. However, as the month approached its end, they admitted that they would not have time to do anything. The project team called on the community of players not to be upset, although they did not name a new release date for the coin.
Why Catizen is Postponing the Token Launch
Representatives of Pluto Studio, the studio behind Catizen, noted that they encountered difficulties while planning the airdrop. According to them, the developers are currently trying to optimize key aspects of the listing, including cooperation with leading cryptocurrency exchanges and ensuring sufficient liquidity.
Pluto also noted that project team members, investors, and advisors will not be able to access CATI tokens immediately. None of them will be able to use the coins during the first year after launch. After this period, the tokens will gradually be unlocked over the next 48 months.
Criticism of Catizen
Earlier it became known that the game Catizen earned $16 million on in-game purchases. The project team allocated 1% of this amount to charity. The developers transferred funds to the non-profit organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which rescues homeless cats.
However, the community criticized this move. In the past, the organization accused in an overly aggressive fight for animal rights, including protests aimed at large corporations.
Despite its success in changing the policies of some companies, such as McDonald’s and Polo Ralph Lauren, PETA has also raised questions because of its stance on euthanasia. The organization actively supports the euthanasia of animals, especially those suffering from chronic diseases or living in difficult conditions. This conflicts with the views of other animal rights activists.
Against this backdrop, the Pluto team wrote that due to PETA’s controversial position on animal euthanasia, the project had “temporarily suspended” its cooperation with the organization.
Over the past few weeks, Pluto Studio has received funding from major crypto industry players such as Binance Labs and The Open Platform (TOP).
In addition, the project team shared significant successes of the Catizen game. According to the latest data, more than 25 million users have already joined it. Now the mini-application is among the most famous crypto games in Telegram along with Hamster Kombat and Notcoin.
