“Cattle defendants”: police arrest gang for attempted cattle theft in MT

An attempted theft of 21 heads of cattle was foiled on Wednesday night (13), in Cáceres, Mato Grosso. Four men were arrested in the act by military police officers from the 6th Battalion of Cáceres.

The crime occurred in a rural region of Cáceres, approximately 221 km from Cuiabá. At around 9pm, the manager of a farm in the Estrada do Bom Tempo region, in Morro do Môquem, caught two men on foot and two others inside a pickup truck, driving the animals to another property.

Upon realizing that they were being chased by the manager, the group fled the scene. The Military Police were called and, after intensive searches, located and arrested the suspects.

The attempted cattle theft caused losses to the rural producer, when the suspects broke down the gate of the farm’s confinement sector.

During the approach, two members of the gang were caught with portions of marijuana and cocaine base paste. The vehicle used in the crime, along with the drugs, was seized and taken to the police station.
