Free account users can now access LastPass from only one type of device – either desktop or mobile.

The changes will take effect on March 16, 2021. LastPass now provides free access from all user devices. It is proposed to pay extra for encrypted storage, as well as for sharing by the whole family.

From March 16, the situation will change. If a free LastPass user selects mobile as their preferred device type, they can access LastPass passwords from Android and iOS smartphones and tablets, as well as smartwatches. However, it won’t be able to work with LastPass from computers with Windows, macOS and Linux, which includes browser extensions. Conversely, a “computer” user will not be able to use LastPass for free on mobile devices.

Starting March 16, when a user logs into a LastPass account, the preferred device type will be mobile or PC. The user will be given three options to switch the active device type. After 3 attempts have been used up, the type of active devices can be changed only by switching to a paid subscription. LastPass is priced at € 3 per month for a single user and € 4 for a 6-user family subscription.

To sweeten the pill, the LastPass team is offering discounted prices for LastPass Premium for free users at € 2.25 per month (billed immediately per year).
