“Cavusoglu is leaving, Tansu Ziller is coming”: Rumors of a new Foreign Minister in the Erdogan government

“Changes are expected in the government. “Strange news is circulating,” writes journalist Rahmi Turan in an article on the Sozcu website about the possibility of a reshuffle in his government. Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

According to him, this strange information states that the former Prime Minister of Turkey Tansu Ziller is expected to be taken over by the Foreign Ministry. “Mevlüt ÇavuÅŸoλουlu is leaving, Ziller is coming,” he wrote.

He made it clear, however, that this could be just “gossip”. According to the journalist, Ziller has developed good relations with the lobby in the USA and Erdogan wants to “break” the ice that has been created with President Joe Biden and to create a bridge of communication with the American administration.

Who is Tansu Ziller – The Imia crisis as its prime minister

Tansu Çiller is a Turkish politician who was also the first (and only to date) female Prime Minister of the country.

He was born on October 9, 1946 in Istanbul. He is a graduate of Istanbul College and a PhD from the University of Connecticut. He also did postdoctoral studies at Yale University. In 1978 she became a lecturer and in 1983 a teacher.

In 1990 he entered politics with the “Right Way Party” and the following year was elected MP. He became Minister of Finance in the Coalition Government under Suleiman Demirel. In 1993 she became the Prime Minister of the Cooperative Government, which collapsed in 1996 with the departure of the Republican Party. During her tenure as Prime Minister, the Imia crisis also took place, which brought Greece and Turkey close to a hot war. From 1996 to 1997 he served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

She was accused of widespread corruption during her tenure as Prime Minister. He was repeatedly questioned by the Turkish Parliament on these charges, but was eventually acquitted of all of them, as nothing could be proven. In Turkey, it is considered by many that the scandal of that period was the springboard for the rise of Islamists to power.

In the November 2002 elections, her party failed to enter parliament and withdrew from politics.
