THE Mevlut Cavusoglu attacked the Joe Biden on the occasion of a written statement expressed by the White House on the events of April 1915 in Constantinople, when the Armenian Genocide.

The Turkish foreign minister said that “charlatans are trying to rewrite history” and that “no one is teaching the great Turkish nation a history lesson.”

In detail, in a post he made on Twitter, he wrote the following:

“Another one attempt by political charlatans to distort history!

The politicians directed statements they cannot change the data.

Those who willfully persist in their mistakes are destined to be remembered as hypocrites.

No one will dare to teach the great Turkish nation a history lesson.”

The following is the statement issued by the White House and which provoked the anger of Mevlut Cavusoglu:

“Today, we pause to remember the lives lost during the Meds Yeghern (Armenian Genocide) and we renew our promise to never forget.

At April 24, 1915Ottoman authorities arrested Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople – the launching a systematic campaign of violence against the Armenian community. In the years that followed, one and a half million Armenians were deported, massacred, or marched to their deaths—a tragedy that forever affected generations of Armenian families.

As we join with nations around the world in remembering this painful history, we also reflect on the resilience and determination of the Armenian people. So many of those who survived were forced to start new lives in new countries – including the United States. Here and around the world, the Armenian people have faced the evil of hate with hope. They rebuilt their communities. They raised their families and preserved their culture. They strengthened our nation. They also told their stories – and those of their ancestors – to remember and ensure that genocide like the one that happened 108 years ago never happens again.

Today, let’s renew that commitment. Let’s recommit ourselves to speak out against hate, to defend human rights and prevent atrocities. And together, let’s redouble our efforts to forge a better future – a future where all people can live with dignity, safety and respect.”
