The singer Lucinha Araújo 88, mother of Cazuza recalled the day he questioned his son about his sexuality . The statement was made last Monday (11) during his participation in Conversa com Bial.
In response, the musician did not deny what he felt and got straight to the point. “He said: ‘Mommy, I like boys and girls. Now don’t interfere in my life, it’s my life”, recalled the artist.
“Since that day I never asked anything again, and if I did I would get dumped. I accepted because I wanted him to be happy. As long as he was happy, I was happy with him”, added Lucinha.
Also during the program, Araújo commented on the launch of two books that bring together stories, poems, photos and other memories of Cazuza, organized by Ramon Nunes Mello.
Named “Meu Lance é Poesia”, the work contains more than 230 poems written between 1975 and 1989, including 27 unpublished poems discovered in the archives of Sociedade Viva Cazuza. While “Protegi Teu Nome por Amor”, it is a photobiography with more than 700 images. The book features testimonies from friends, a preface by Gilberto Gil and texts by Pedro Bial.

Arrest of the band Barão Vermelho and Cazuza
Dé Palmeira, music producer and one of the members of the group Barão Vermelho, who was in the audience at the attraction, also told about the arrest of the band, including Cazuza, in the 1980s.
“We had a huge party in the early hours of the morning, I slept and woke up to a knock on my bedroom door, when I opened the door I found a trebuchet in my face. At that point, Frejat and Ezequiel had already been charged, they were already detained”, he recalled.
“Cazuza, smartly, had stayed on the upper floor, they were there and found nothing. Just a bottle of whiskey under the bed. He thanked God they found it, because he had lost the bottle of whiskey, they found his ID among the mattress, which he had also lost. The police did him a favor,” he said.
Despite being “clean”, Cazuza accompanied his colleagues to the police station. “Actually, I think Cazuza wanted a mugshot like that, you know?”, joked Dé about the classic photos taken at the location.
“There was that classic photo of Dylan, there was the classic photo of Elvis. He thought it would enrich his mythology”, he concluded.
