There have been 1,053 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the United States, according to the latest figures released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Of the total 43 US states where cases of the virus have been recorded, most (161) come from California, with New York (159) and Illinois (152) following on the relevant list.
More than 132,000 doses of the JYNNEOS vaccine – which has received approval from the relevant Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US – have been distributed throughout the territory, according to the official data of the US health authorities. However, experts point out that there is still a shortage of vaccines amid an increase in cases of the virus in some states.
