Ceagesp price indicator falls 3.13% in December

After four consecutive months of positive variation, the Ceagesp price index ended December 2022 with a drop of 3.13%, compared to the previous month, after four consecutive months of positive variation.

However, in the accumulated of last year, the index closed with an increase of 11.2%, informs in a communiqué the Company of Entrepostos and General Warehouses of São Paulo (Ceagesp).

According to Ceagesp, the highlight of December was the Miscellaneous sector, which presented a drop of 6.99%, ending the month of December with the biggest negative variation and the biggest percentage drop among all sectors.

The Fruit sector had a drop of 6.32% in the last month of 2022. In the year, the sector accumulated an increase of 11.61%. Of the 38 items quoted in this basket of products, 57.89% had a price reduction.

The main reductions occurred in the prices of Tahiti lemon (-43.14%), Niagara grape (-34.15%), watermelon (-21.67%), Ruby grape (-20.90%) and Benitaka grape (- 17.40%). The main increases occurred in the prices of yellow melon (+20.95%), daisy avocado (+13.11%), fuji apple (+10.03%), sour passion fruit (+8.75%) and red guava ( +8.49%).

The vegetable sector increased by 2.85% in December. in the year, the sector ended with an increase of 6.27%. of the 33 items quoted in this basket of products, 48.48% showed a price increase.

The main increases occurred in the prices of yellow pepper (+64.43%), pasta beans (+47.25%), carmine tomatoes (+34.29%), pizzadoro tomatoes (+24.54%) and Italian zucchini ( 16.40%). The main reductions occurred in the prices of okra (-29.19%), green pepper (-26.97%), scarlet eggplant (-15.37%), free-range pepipo (-13.21%) and cassava (-12. 28%).

The vegetable sector presented a variation in prices of 10.95%. In the year, the sector ended with an increase of 15.42%. Of the 38 items quoted in this basket of products, 65.79% showed a price increase.

The main increases occurred in the prices of coriander (+94.94%), common escarole (+83.92%), hydroponic arugula (+36.82%), spinach (+35.42%) and curly lettuce (32. 96%). The main reductions occurred in the prices of branchy broccoli (-20.24%), parsley (-9.35%), ninja broccoli (-9.23%), green corn (-9.21%) and turnip (-7 .85%).

The sundry sector fell by 6.99% in December. in the year, the sector with an accumulated drop of 50.16%, the highest among all sectors. Of the 11 items quoted in this basket of products, 81.82% had a price reduction.

The main reductions occurred in the prices of domestic onion (-21.33%), asterix potatoes (-13.98%), dried coconut (-13.25%), peanuts in skin (-3.42%) and washed potatoes (-2.63%).

The fish sector showed a rise of 2.21% in prices in December. In the year, the sector accumulated a rise of 1.50% (the lowest among all sectors). Of the 28 items quoted in this basket of products, 39.29% showed a price increase.

The main increases occurred in the prices of mackerel (+22.39%), mullet (+20.44%), blue dogfish (+14.88%), swordfish (+13.45%) and imported salmon (+5. 94%). The main reductions occurred in the prices of saltwater catfish (-15.79%), hake (-11.53%), hake (-11.38%), betara (-7.09%) and sardines frozen (-6.82%).
