Ceasefire shows “persistence of resistance”, says Hezbollah chief

The head of HezbollahNaim Qassem, congratulated the Palestinians this Saturday (18) on the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. In a speech, Qassem stated that it proves the “persistence of resistance” against Israel.

The comments were the first in public by the leader of the Lebanese militant group, supported by Iran, since Israel and Hamas reached the agreement last Wednesday (15).

“The agreement, identical to the one proposed in May 2024, proves the persistence of the resistance groups, who achieved what they wanted, while Israel was not able to achieve what it sought,” he said.

Israel and Hezbollah signed a ceasefire in a conflict parallel to the war in Gaza in November.

This ceasefire, mediated by the United States and France, requires that Israeli forces withdraw from southern Lebanon within 60 days and that the Hezbollah remove your fighters and weapons from the same region. Since then, the two sides have traded accusations of ceasefire violations.

“Do not test our patience and I ask that the Lebanese State deals firmly with these violations which have now exceeded 100,” Qassem said.
