The plaster on the ceiling of a daycare center gave way this Thursday (19), leaving three children slightly injured in Garuva (SC), a city located approximately 214 kilometers away.
According to the Municipal Department of Education (SME), during the incident, the students were sleeping and, despite the noise generated by the fall, they all only suffered minor injuries.
After the incident, the occupational safety technicians, the engineer responsible for the Frei José Bertoldi Daycare Center and the education secretary were called and went to the institution to assess the situation.
The department reported that those responsible for the children were informed about what had happened and, together with the daycare manager, were taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in the region, where the students received medical attention.
According to the department, examinations and X-rays were carried out at the hospital, which confirmed that there were no significant injuries to the children.
Furthermore, the department highlighted that it requested the School Social Service and sent a social worker to the hospital unit to monitor the families.
Denise Romanzini, manager of the daycare center, emphasized that the children are fine, that the structure of the institution was evaluated and did not present any immediate risks.
The professional also stated that the ceiling repair is underway and that, after the assessment, no leaks, cracks or any sign that would justify the fall of the plaster were found.
In a statement, the Municipal Department of Education stated that it continues to monitor the situation. “The safety and well-being of our children are non-negotiable priorities,” the department added.
