Celebrities come together in a video on LGBT+ Pride Day; watch

More than 60 artists starred in a new campaign by the Special Coordination of Sexual Diversity of Rio de Janeiro. The video aired this Friday (28), the date that marks the International LGBTQIA+ Pride Day in an annual celebration of Stonewall Uprising .

Directed by Candé Salles, celebrities such as Marieta Severo, Ney Matogrosso, Lucy Alves, Marcella Rica, Carmo Dalla Vecchia and Ana Carolina were filmed reciting phrases that form a long text about the importance of the date, respect and celebrating all existences. Furthermore, at the end, they reinforce that, since 2019, homophobia has been a crime.

“Diversity is when you have a seat at the table. Inclusion is when you can speak. Belonging is when you are heard. Are you heard? Reality has more violence than reports. We can change that. I guarantee it. You can count on me,” the guests say in a certain part of the production.

The origin of International LGBT+ Pride Day

On this date, 1969, a crowd took to the streets of Manhattan, New York, in the United States, to protest against police violence against the LGBT+ community and to ask for more sexual freedom.

From then on, always in June, parades in the main cities around the world began to gain prominence, always in memory of the people murdered in that first one and in celebration of those who remained alive.
