Celular Seguro completes six months with 60 thousand blocks

After six months of launch, the Safe Cellular program reached 60,813 blocks due to loss, theft or robbery of devices, based on user alerts, according to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP).

The tool was made available to the population at the end of last year and today it has 2,106,012 registered citizens throughout the country. After registering, you can protect your personal data on your cell phone by locking the device.

In April of this year, a new version of the tool was launched, making the registration process simpler and reporting theft, robbery or loss more effective.

By clicking on the “emergency button”, it is possible to block the lines, devices and digital applications for victims of theft, robbery or loss.

Blocking in case of theft

Victims of mobile device theft and robbery can block their device and digital applications. There is no limit to the number of numbers that can be registered, but they must be linked to the CPF of the line owner for the blocking to be effective.

Each person registered with Celular Seguro can indicate people they trust, who will be authorized to block the device if the owner’s cell phone is stolen, misplaced or lost. The victim can also block the device via the website, using a computer.

In total, 1,484,626 trusted people were registered until 12 pm this Monday (1).

After a cell phone is reported lost, stolen or misplaced, banks and financial institutions that have joined the project will block accounts. Telephone companies will cut off lines.

Unlock

The tool does not offer the possibility of unlocking. If the user issues an alert of loss, theft or robbery, but recovers the phone later, they will have to request access by contacting the operator and banks.
