Central Bank (BC) servers started an indefinite strike this Friday (1).
Through a note, the National Union of Central Bank Employees (Sinal) warns that services such as Pix may be impacted by the strike, as they are not within the scope of the essential services law.
Earlier this week, Fabio Faiad, president of the National Union of Central Bank Employees (Sinal), told CNN Brasil Business that “all sectors of the bank may be harmed” with the indefinite stoppage.
BC president Roberto Campos Neto informed that the institution has contingency plans in the event of a strike. “I respect the rights of employees. I know they have a huge sense of responsibility and that we have contingency arrangements in place in case something more severe happens,” he said during an interview with the Quarterly Inflation Report last week.
Campos Neto went on vacation this Thursday (31).
In recent days, the category has held a series of protests with occasional stoppages, which began to generate problems in the collection and dissemination of indicators and financial data.
The weekly Focus survey, carried out by the BC, for example, is being released 90 minutes late. On Monday, the BC informed that the monthly notes from the external sector, credit and fiscal accounts – which should be published this week – would not be released, without a new date.
Workers are asking for a 19.9% salary readjustment and a career restructuring. The strike was approved at an assembly on March 28, with the participation of 1,300 civil servants, of which 90% voted in favor of the strike, according to the union.
