The central-southern region of Brazil will face a mass of dry air in the coming days, starting this Monday (11). The forecast indicates that the days will be sunny and hot, with temperatures 3ºC to 5ºC degrees above average.
According to Climatempo, the lack of rain combined with heat results in dry air. Part of the west of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, west of São Paulo and south of Mato Grosso do Sul, must have relative air humidity below 30% .
Climatempo highlights the cities of Uruguaiana (RS), Chapecó (SC), Foz do Iguaçu (PR), Presidente Prudente (SP) and Ponta Porã (MS) to redouble care with human and animal hydration.
In the north of the country, in Roraima, including the capital Boa Vista, there is also a warning about low humidity, which in addition to concerns about the health of the population, could also increase the risk of fire outbreaks in the region.
For the World Health Organization (WHO), The ideal humidity for human health is in the range between 50% and 80% . Dry air can cause or worsen respiratory illnesses and other symptoms.
Heat wave
This Monday (11), the Climatempo forecast warns of the start of the third heat wave of 2024 , which should last until the end of the week. In the west of southern Brazil, southwest of Mato Grosso do Sul and west of São Paulo, thermometers should register temperatures 5ºC above average.
During the heat wave, it is important to maintain some precautions such as staying hydrated and avoiding long periods of exposure to the sun from 10 am to 4 pm. It is also recommended that you wear lighter clothing and apply sunscreen regularly. In cases of exhaustion and heatstroke, with nausea and dizziness, it is necessary to seek medical attention.
In the case of pets, it is important to make sure that the animals have access to fresh water, and that they do physical activities before 10 am and after 5 pm. Dogs and cats regulate their temperature mainly through breathing. In case of difficulty breathing, excessive salivation and very red gums, a visit to the veterinarian is recommended.
