CEO Tether: Email newsletter service hacked

An unnamed popular email marketing service provider used by crypto companies has been compromised. This was announced by Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.

“I am not releasing names until the investigation is complete, but please be wary of any cryptocurrency giveaway emails received within 24 hours,” the company CEO warned.

CoinGecko co-founder and COO Bobby Ong also reported a possible hack to the service. According to him, malicious emails are sent on behalf of crypto firms and contain offers to distribute coins.

“We at CoinGecko could potentially be affected and are actively working with our supplier to further investigate and determine the extent of the issue. We have seen phishing emails impersonating CoinGecko sent from other customer accounts,” he added.

Ong recalled that the crypto asset tracking service does not intend to launch its own token.

In January, email marketing service provider Mailer Lite was the victim of an attack that caused more than $600,000 in damage. The incident affected Cointelegraph, Wallet Connect, Token Terminal, and several DeFi projects.
