Ceramics Contribute One Out Of Every 217 Euros Collected By The Tax Agency

The Spanish ceramic sector, whose production is based on more than 90% in the province of Castellón, is crucial for tax collection in Spain. The industry contributes one of every 217 euros collected by the Tax Agency, with a global amount that is close to 1,000 million euros.

Specifically, the figure stands at 982 million euros, which represents a third of the total exports of the sector, according to the data collected in the report on the Socio-economic and fiscal Impact of the ceramic tiles and pavements sector that the Ascer tile employer plans to present in Madrid shortly.

Besides, the Ceramic represents 0.5% of the total income of the Tax Agency in the national group, which shows that it is a essential activity for the creation of wealth and employment in the country as a whole.

It is enough to show some equivalences of the amount represented by the tax collection of the ceramic sector to show the impact of these companies on the whole of the national territory. The amount of 982 million euros of the tax collection of the ceramic sector is equivalent to 14% of the investment in R + D + i contemplated in the General State Budgets (PGE). In addition, the amount collected by the Treasury among the ceramic companies is 56 times greater than the investment destined to Climate Change and Environmental Quality in the Budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Another data that shows the importance of the contribution of this industry is that the 982 million euros contributed in tax collection are 1.2 times higher than the budget of the Valencia City Council, as set out in the report carried out by Ascer and PwC Espaà ± a under the agreement signed with the Generalitat Valenciana.

THE CLASSTER GROWTH LEVER

  • START. The ceramic industry represents 14.4% of the industrial GDP of the Valencian Community and accounts for more than 20% of the total GDP of the province of Castellón.
  • TRACTOR EFFECT. The cluster has a very important driving and multiplying effect, since for every euro of direct GDP of the sector it contributes 2.1 of additional GDP to the economy of Spain.
  • JOB. Furthermore, the ceramic sector represents 11.6% of industrial employment in the Community and 17.9% of total employment in the province. The industry directly employs 15,800 people, has 60,000 workers in its production phase and 100,000, including the distribution, marketing and installation phase.
