Cerveró asks the STF to access messages from the Spoofing operation

Former Petrobras International Director Nestor Cerveró asked Ricardo Lewandowski, Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to have access to the messages of Sergio Moro and Deltan Dallagnol, in Operation Spoofing.

The operation investigated the invasions of accounts in the messaging application of Brazilian authorities and people related to the Lava Jato operation. According to the former manager, the practices adopted in Operation Lava Jato “are in check”.

“The content of the tiny portion of the messages published so far already shows that the criminal actions that took place were unscathed by the anomalies. In addition, the STF explained that access to messages is an undeniable manifestation of the right to defense and the public interest”, he said.

For Cerveró’s defense, the guarantee of secrecy cannot be applied to the messages exchanged by the former Task Force’s prosecutors.

In December 2020, Lewandowski ordered the judgment of the 10th Federal Criminal Court of the Federal District to guarantee former President Lula the sharing of messages that concern him, directly or indirectly, and those related to investigations and criminal proceedings against him.

Several politicians involved in Lava Jato have already asked for access to the messages.

On April 23, 2021, the minister also authorized Senator Renan Calheiros (MDB-AL) to have access to messages attributed to former judge Sergio Moro and to prosecutors from the Lava Jato operation that make references to him.
