CES 2022, one of the leading fairs in the technology sector, closed last weekend and showcased some of the main trends for the coming years.
In an interview with CNN Rádio, the executive editor of MIT Technology Review Brazil, Rafael Coimbra, lamented that the Covid-19 scenario has once again prevented the event from happening in person in its entirety.
Even so, he says that “it was possible to feel the trends that should mark the year”.
According to Coimbra, some expectations were confirmed. “The connected home, which has gained personal assistants in recent years, smart speakers, for example.”
The highlight, however, in his view, goes to TVs. “They are already getting thinner and with high definition, but now they have an added boost, it gets more sophisticated, in the sense of transforming into a big computer.”
Internet-connected TVs become a hub not only for entertainment but also for work. “I saw an interesting one, 27 inches, it’s not even the biggest, but it’s portable, has a battery. So if you’re watching in the bedroom, you have autonomy, without being stuck to the wall and needing to be plugged in.”
“The idea is that the same applications that exist on smartphones will migrate to TVs. Here in Brazil, the greatest increase in connectivity is taking place through TV, I think it will become more and more a partner for laptops and smartphones.”
Medicine
Another important sector is the medicine industry. “He has been advancing with sophisticated equipment, on the personal side he also started to gain resources, he usually sees in smart watches, heart rate, oxygenation, calories, quality of sleep.”
“But other devices in this smart home add to this function. As a smart light, which is capable of monitoring your sleep and your temperature, if it installs more than one, it makes a triangulation, as if it were a radar, if it is sleeping or even if it has fallen to the floor, it generates an alarm.”
