To the latest César, the Oscars of French cinema, comedy Goodbye idiots by Albert Dupontel won the award for best film and Laure Calamy, one of the protagonists of the series Call my agent, the one for best actress but, probably, no one will remember it, because to hold the bench on the evening of March 12 at the Olympia in Paris were not the statuettes, but the unscheduled offered by the actress Corinne Masiero, 57, who has seen fit to surprise everyone by undressing to protest the abandonment of culture and the prolonged closure of cinemas during the pandemic period.
“No culture, no future.”

Go up on stage to deliver the César for the best costumes, Masiero presented herself disguised as a donkey, only to drop the headdress, remain in a dress smeared with red paint and take off that too, showing herself completely naked in front of the Olympia and Canal + audiences who were following the awards ceremony live. When she turned in favor of the camera, on her back the spectators could read the words “Rend nous dell’arte, Jean” (“Give us back the art, Jean”), a clear message addressed to the minister Jean Castex for not doing enough to preserve culture in France during the Covid-19 emergency.
The writing on the chest of the actress in large letters, «No culture, no future», then underlines the message that without culture there can never be a future and, therefore, a present from which to start again. The protest of artists in France has been active for several months: already in December 2020 hundreds of actors, directors, musicians, technicians and critics in the artistic field protested in Paris and other cities in France against the government’s decision to close the places dedicated to culture. Needless to say, the provocation launched by Corinne Masiero inevitably catalyzed the attention of those present, beautifully darkening the evening and the winners, including the comedy Goodbye idiots which, in total, has won seven awards including the one for best director.
