In 2021 alone, the Federal Comptroller General (CGU) recovered BRL 1.8 billion from the public coffers in five leniency agreements.
The data were disclosed by minister Wagner Rosário, in an interview with TV Brasil, in which he also stated that there are two more agreements that should be closed by the end of this month.
According to Rosário, the collaboration negotiations with the Justice have “a level of recovery never seen in public administration”. The minister informed that there are now another 24 leniency agreements in progress.
According to the CGU, its actions in combating corruption resulted in the dismissal of 445 employees. The number increases when all civil servants dismissed for corruption are counted since the creation of the CGU, in 2003. In all, 8,500 civil servants were dismissed from their positions.
Wagner also emphasizes the preventive work that the controllership performs with the conduct of integrity programs, which detect, prevent and resolve cases of corruption throughout the public administration.
