Chamber Ethics Council opens case against deputy who argued with Lira

During the meeting of the Council of Ethics of the Chamber held this Tuesday (14), the deputies started the process to investigate a possible breach of parliamentary decorum by Glauber Braga (PSOL). The establishment takes place after the Liberal Party (PL) presents the request for the impeachment of the deputy after discussion with the Speaker of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL).

The process was signed and announced by the President of the Council, Paulo Azi (União Brasil-BA). Then, three names were drawn for the triple list of possible rapporteurs: Márcio Marinho (BA), Gilberto Abramo (MG) and Marcelo Nilo (BA). All of them are on the Republican bench.

The clash between the two parliamentarians took place during the vote on a Provisional Measure on the end of tax incentives for the petrochemical industry, on May 31 this year.

In plenary, Glauber Braga made the following statement: “Mr Arthur Lira, I wanted to know if you are not ashamed. I would like to know if you are not ashamed.” After that, a series of offenses followed, to the point where Lira promised to take tough measures, even requesting Braga’s withdrawal from the plenary.

Also during the meeting of the Ethics Council this Tuesday, the PSOL criticized the delay in the progress of the action that asks for the impeachment of Arthur Lira, for abuse of parliamentary prerogatives.

“This representation against him has disappeared. The one that was presented against me entered the system on the same day, went to the table, from the table to the Ethics Council, Your Excellency has already marked the beginning of the process today. And where is the representation? People want to know. Can a representation disappear inside the Chamber of Deputies? “, asked Glauber Rocha.

In the end, he asked the Chamber of Deputies for evidence of where this representation had ended up.
