The Chamber of Deputies begins to vote on the highlights, which suggest changes in the original text of the PEC dos Precatório, this Tuesday afternoon (9). The expectation is that, as a result, lawmakers will begin voting on the matter in the second round.
The article is the government’s main proposal to make it possible to increase the value of the installments of Auxílio Brasil — a replacement for Bolsa Família — to R$ 400, and to increase the number of beneficiaries of the program from 14 million to 17 million.
The text proposes to postpone the payment of judicial debts of the federal government, the so-called precatório, aiming to increase space in the budget. Another planned change is the way to calculate the spending ceiling, a constitutional rule that limits federal spending from one year to another.
Deputies approved the measure in the first round last Thursday by 312 votes in favor and 144 against.
