The CEO of the Binance exchange, Changpeng Zhao, criticized the search giant Google – the search engine continues to display phishing cryptocurrency sites in the ad block.
Changpeng Zhao wrote that he was looking for the CoinMarketCap service website in a Google search engine and noticed that a phishing site masquerading as a service was located in the ad unit.
Naturally, the ad unit is located above the main output of the search engine, so many users may be at risk of data theft and possibly even the theft of cryptocurrencies.
“This affects users who add smart contract addresses to their MetaMask wallets that are taken from phishing sites. We are trying to report fraudulent ads to Google and at the same time alert the community,” the head of Binance said.
CoinMarketCap is one of the most popular cryptocurrency data aggregators, so a large number of users could be at risk. Sometimes a phishing site is not easy to recognize at first sight.
Note that phishing attacks are still frequent and popular with hackers. Recently, an attack was carried out through the GateIO exchange account on the Twitter social network.
