The founder and CEO of the Binance cryptocurrency exchange on Friday, March 3, announced on Twitter about an attempt to spread fake news about his death at the hands of the FBI.

Changpeng Zhao said that the rumor is spreading on the Chinese social network WeChat, where they write about the search of the businessman’s apartment and his own death at the hands of the US FBI.

To add credibility to the fake news, the attackers used a snapshot of the New York Times China affiliate’s home page on Twitter, posting a brief message about the event and a photo of Changpeng Zhao.

This is not the first time the businessman has had to comment on attempts to stuff inaccurate information about him or the events around Binance. About six months ago, China’s second-largest news portal 163.com (Wangyi Shimbun) published a news article citing Forbes titled “Binance founder Changpeng Zhao was raided by the FBI and arrested in his house. A secret room with BNB and BUSD was discovered in the basement of the mansion.”

“The simple combination of the names Binance and Changpeng Zhao in the Forbes article already creates an effect of plausibility for the inexperienced reader. A certain high-ranking Chinese was seized and searched for corruption, and they also found a secret room in the basement filled to the brim with BNB and BUSD … This is ridiculous, ”Changpeng Zhao commented on the news of the 163.com portal.

Zhao ends his last message to his Twitter followers with the number 4 and a photo of his four fingers splayed out. So the head of Binance reminds
on their four recommendations for successful investors for 2023. In January, he published a post asking followers to “ignore FUD, fake news and attacks.”

“In the future, I would appreciate it if you could link to this post when I tweet 4,” Zhao wrote.

The Binance CEO recently announced the end of the beta testing of the Bicasso artificial intelligence platform. As part of the pilot project, 10,000 NFTs were issued.
