It is noteworthy that on November 23, the X account of the ex-head of Binance turned out to be “temporarily unavailable.” The account was later restored.
On November 21, Binance and its founder were found guilty of a number of charges, after which Zhao resigned. The cryptocurrency exchange agreed to pay one of the largest corporate fines in the history of the United States – $4.3 billion.
CZ was subsequently released on bail of $175 million. Following this, the US Attorney’s Office filed a motion to ban CZ from leaving the country. The department believes that the former head of Binance may not return to the country and avoid a prison sentence.
Despite Zhao’s departure and the fines, analysts at Matrixport, Bernstein and JPMorgan expressed confidence that the company will maintain international dominance among cryptocurrency exchanges.
