The British health regulator is considering a proposal not to grant it Covid-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford to younger people due to concerns about very rare cases of blood clots, Channel 4 reported today.
“Two senior sources said that while the data is still unclear, there are growing arguments to justify offering a different vaccine to young people – at least under the age of 30”, the network said.
The British Medicines Agency (MHRA) has previously emphasized that the benefits of the Swedish-British vaccine in preventing Covid-19 far outweigh the potential risk of blood clots.
The MHRA did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Channel 4.
