Channing Tatum hopes that the third time around the charm of the upcoming “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” which debuted its first trailer on Tuesday, will be maintained.
The film that completes the trilogy of the “Magic Mike” franchise, arriving a little more than a decade after the first film of the same name in 2012. In the feature, Tatum’s stripper, Mike Lane, this time leaves for London with Salma Hayek .
The teaser clip, set appropriately to Donna Summer’s classic track “Last Dance,” finds the duo in a somewhat melancholy frame of mind at first, with Tatum bartending at a swanky event apparently hosted by Hayek.
After she asks him if he “enjoys bartending,” Tatum decides to show her what he “really” does, closing the door and giving her a truly magical (and shirtless) striptease performance that eventually leads them to to the room.
Then they travel to the UK, where Mike hopes to play a show at a famous theater to wake up the “numb and disconnected” masses with a “surge of passion”, according to Hayek’s character in the clip.
The trailer ends with kinetic footage of rehearsals and snippets of the actual performance, with romantic moments also shown between the two leads.
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” brings back director Steven Soderbergh, who directed “Magic Mike” and served as executive producer on the second film, 2015’s “Magic Mike XXL”. Pictures.
