Chaos in Afghanistan: 15 dead and 34 injured in blasts at Kabul’s largest military hospital

At least 15 people were killed and 34 injured in explosions that took place today, Tuesday (2/11) at the largest military hospital in Kabul, said a Taliban security official.

Earlier, they were heard at least two explosions and then shots near the Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan military hospital, an eyewitness living in the area told Reuters, and were found by journalists of the French Agency.

Photos posted by residents on social media show one smoke cloud to rise above the area where the explosions occurred.

“I am in the hospital, we heard a loud explosion at the height of the first checkpoint of the hospital, I also hear gunshots,” a medical source at the hospital told AFP. A few minutes later, journalists of the French Agency heard a second explosion in the same sector, as broadcast by APE-MPE.

Islamic State, which has carried out a series of attacks on mosques and other targets since the Taliban took control of Kabul in August, attacked the 400-bed hospital in 2017, killing more than 30 people.
