Chaos in the Suez Canal: 370 ships immobilized, 25 of them oil tankers

Up to 369 are counted ships that remain trapped in Suez Canal, waiting for the detachment of the large cargo ship “Ever Given”, which is stranded for the sixth day at the 151st kilometer on the south side of the canal.

This was stated by the President of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabia. As he points out, 25 of these ships are oil tankers.

So far, despite the enormous efforts of the Egyptian authorities, with the contribution of 14 tugboats and the excavation of sand from the area, the detachment of the huge ship, 400 meters long and 59 meters wide, which has cut the sea in two, has not been achieved. artery.

It should be noted that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi instructed, in case the solution of the problem is not achieved so far, to start the preparations to implement the third necessary but more difficult scenario of removal of cargo from the ship in order to achieve its detachment, which will take many days.
