Chappell Roan cancels festival shows: “I need to prioritize my health”

The American singer Chappell Roan 26, announced that she is taking some time away from the stage and spotlight. The rising pop star announced on Friday (27), via her Instagram stories, that she is “unable to perform” at the All Things Go festival this weekend in New York and Washington DC, in the United States, to prioritize your health.

“Things have gotten overwhelming the last few weeks and I’m really feeling it,” the singer said. “I feel pressure to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible”, he continues. “Thank you for understanding.”

Earlier this month, Roan made headlines when he shared his conflicting views on the US presidential election, first telling the British newspaper The Guardian that “there are problems on both sides,” before eventually announcing on TikTok that he plans to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris in November.

Earlier this summer, Roan also shared her thoughts about her fans following her meteoric rise, and certain people she felt were invasive. Last month, she shared two videos on TikTok in which she criticized some fans who followed her, “stalked” her family and demanded photos or hugs in public, despite Roan’s resistance.

“I don’t care that abuse and harassment, stalking, whatever it is, are normal things to do to people who are famous or a little famous,” she said in one of the videos. “It’s weird how people think they know a person because they see them online and hear the art they make… I have the right to say no to creepy behavior, okay?”

The All Things Go music festival is scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday in Columbia, Maryland, and Forest Hills, New York. Performances by Janelle Monáe, 38, and Renée Rapp, 24, are confirmed.
