Chappell Roan on Grammy Chances: “Hoping I Don’t Win”

Currently at the top of the music charts, the American singer Chappell Roan 26, reflected on the “dark side” of fame in a new interview published this Monday (16). In addition to recalling a harassment situation she experienced after becoming famous, the artist said she hopes she doesn’t win a Grammy, the most important award in music today.

“My mum would love to go to the Grammys or the Brits,” the singer, who is on the cover of The Face magazine, said. “But I’m kind of hoping I don’t win, because then everyone will stop bugging me and saying, ‘See guys, we did it and we didn’t win, bye! I won’t have to do that again!’” she said. Chappell Roan is one of the most talked about artists in the new artist category at the awards.

The artist even won the best new artist award at MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) 2024 which happened on September 11th.

During the interview, Chappell also recalled being harassed by two men at an airport. They chased her and yelled at her.

“The vibe of it, stalking, talking shit online, [pessoas que] “They won’t leave you alone, yelling at you in public, it’s the vibe of an abusive ex-husband,” she said. “That’s what it feels like. I didn’t know it would be this bad.”

A friend of singer Lorde, Chappell Roan said she asked the singer for advice on harassment.

“She sent me a list of things I should do [naquela situação],” Chappell Roan explained. “She literally wrote down eight things she wished someone had told her when she was going through it.”
