IS been a year since Charlene Wittstock she managed to leave South Africawhere it remained blocked for months, until November 2021, due to a respiratory tract infection that forced her to have three surgeries. We have seen her in public several times since then. Lastly, last November 19, with her husband Albert II and children Jacques and Gabriella was alla Fête du Prince (top photo), the National day of the Principality. Last year the former swimmer, due to her health problems, had been forced to miss the important event that brings together the Monegasque royals every year. Back in the Principality for a few days, Charléne was still too weak. And in fact, after a few days, to recover, she had gone to one Swiss clinic.
This time instead on National Day the princess was there. Smiling and apparently fit. In reality, however, the consequences of the ordeal that for months kept her away from the Principality, and from her family, have not yet disappeared. Her husband Alberto revealed it in an interview with Nice-Matin: “I’m really happy that Charlene is better and can participate in many public events,” said the prince. “But sometimes she is still tired. She still needs time to fully recover her energies and make further commitments. But she will make it, I’m sure of it.’
Little by little, the princess is regaining possession of her life. And every time she appears in public with her husband-despite the rumors that for months have put the two royals on the verge of divorce – seems serene. We had the last demonstration at the Principality party. Once again, however, their appearance in family format (apparently happy) did not convince all French royal observers. Which remain divided. The one between Alberto and Charlène, some say, is a love without shadows, which has had its ups and downs, as happens to everyone, but which resists. The more malignant, however, paint a completely different scenario: Alberto and his wife in favor of flash show themselves united and close-knit for convenience and duty. Charlène, according to gossip, would in fact be “trapped” by an alleged agreement with her husband: 12 million euros a year to attend official events alongside him. To keep the family together, at least publicly, and keep up appearances.
