Charlène of Monaco misses another important appointment with her children (and with her subjects)

Princess Charlene, officially convalescing in a secret place for the after-effects of the infection that blocked her in South Africa for seven months, ha missed another important appointment with the children and Monegasque subjects. The former swimmer, who was not at the Principality’s National Day and did not return to Monaco even on the day when the twins Jacques and Gabriella turned 7, did not even see herself at the most important Christmas event at Palazzo Grimaldi: the delivery of gifts to less fortunate Monegasque children. A party based on games, sweets and gifts, conceived by Grace Kelly in 1956 and kept alive, in recent years, by Charlène and her husband, the prince Alberto.

This time there was neither Alberto nor Charlène. To take their place, the 7-year-old children in the company of their aunt Stephanie. As loving as ever with the grandchildren who – at least judging from the photos (see gallery below) – on a day of celebration they seemed far from happy. Of course, the masks imposed by Covid do not help decipher moods. But the children’s eyes looked sad. And then there are the shots in which Aunt Stéphanie bends over them, cuddles them, kisses them. As to console them.

Jacques and Gabriella did what they had to do. Handing bowed packages to the many children who came with their parents to Palazzo Grimaldi. But theirs looks they seem to tell everything about them grief over the now endless absence of mother Charlène. The princess, albeit from a distance, is trying to get all her love to reach her children. On their seventh birthday, he wasn’t there, but he dedicated a tender post to him on Instagram. The photos of the children still in their pajamas blowing on the cake, accompanied by tender words: «Happy birthday my children. Thank you God for blessing me with two such wonderful children. I am truly blessed. With love, mum ».

But the little ones would like their mother nearby. As father Alberto admitted in a recent interview, when Charléne was the twins in South Africa “They suffered from the absence of their mother”. Having owed it say hello again, after his very short return to the Principality, it was another “great pain”. The children have shown how much they suffer from the absence of their mother even in public. Everyone hoped, especially for the sake of Jacques and Gabriella, that the princess, at least for the traditional Christmas date at Palazzo Grimaldi, would return to the Principality. This was not the case. There are to block it health problems, perhaps even of depression. And, according to gossip, the now unbridgeable rift with Alberto, with which it would be one step away from divorce.
