Chat of War: Pentagon investigates second irregular group in application

The United States Department of Defense Inspector will investigate a second “war of war” among the high-ranking authorities of the US government, the CNN.

The first investigation is concentrated in the first group of messages in the Signal application. The chat included the participation of different authorities, including the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, who discussed military attacks against the Houthis rebels in Yemen.

An authority confirmed to CNN That the investigation, which began in early April, now analyzes the second conversation, also at Signal, reported last month. This time, the group included the wife, lawyer and brother of Hegseth.

Investigators also want to know how information about military attacks against Houthis has been transferred from Hegseth’s safe communication system to Signal, the authority said.

Hegseth and Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell denied that any confidential information has been shared.

When the investigation began in April, Pentagon’s interim inspector Steven Stebbins said the objective of the investigation is whether Hegseth and other defense officials “fulfill policies and procedures for the use of a business messaging application for official business.”

Journalist added by mistake

The conversations in the Signal application, considered unmarked, came to public after a journalist from The Atlantic magazine was added by mistake to the group.

The reporter came to have access to a series of messages from Trump government authorities, who shared War plans on US military attacks in Yemen.

Revelations have generated a series of questions about the platform’s safety, which is not officially used by authorities to share classified information.

The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, denies any irregularity and says that nothing sensitive was shared. Still, the case became the first political crisis of Donald Trump’s second term.
