Apple has released developer betas of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, which add new Apple Intelligence features. They include ChatGPT integration, writes TechCrunch.
To activate the chatbot, you must give permission. It answers questions through Siri and helps with writing in any app that supports the new Writing Tools feature.
If Apple’s voice assistant is unable to answer a question on its own, it suggests turning to the OpenAI platform.
Additionally added:
- generating emoji within Genmoji;
- image creation platform Image Playground;
- technologies for analyzing visual information Visual Intelligence;
- Image Wand function for removing objects from photos.
Genmoji is capable of creating emoji based on prompts. They can be used in messages and reactions.
Visual Intelligence is available through the camera control button introduced in the iPhone 16 line. The tool can scan QR codes, text, identify phone numbers and email addresses to add to contacts, and translate information into another language. The service gains access to ChatGPT.
Image Playground is capable of generating images based on prompts or photographs.
The public release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 is expected next week. It features a new look for Siri, some other improvements to the voice assistant, updated photo search and other innovations using artificial intelligence.
Among the non-AI innovations in iOS 18.2: Apple added ability to remove App Store, Camera, Safari, Messages and Photos apps in the EU to comply with regulatory requirements. In the settings you can restore the App Store if necessary.
In June, Apple announced a major AI initiative, Apple Intelligence, which includes ChatGPT integration.
Soon, Elon Musk threatened to ban Apple devices from his companies if OpenAI’s chatbot was added to the operating systems for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
