Cheap in beans and larvae: inspectors seize 290 kg of food in RJ

Inspectors of the State Secretariat of Consumer Protection (Sedcon) and Procon-RJ discarded 290.42 kg of food UNDERSTANDED FOR CONSUMPTION IN SIX MARKETS OF NEW IGUAÇU AND WEST OF RIO DE JANEIRO.

Among the products were milk with insects and larvae meat and spices overdue or without expiration date, as well as items exposed for sale with cockroaches.

The inspections took place on Monday (24) and Tuesday (25) and resulted in the interdiction of the Cold Chamber and the preparation area of ​​the bakery of a market in the Baixada Fluminense.

The official was sent to the police station to provide clarification. Already the markets in the West Zone were charged.

Inspectors also identified structural problems, such as Lack of vector protection screens irregular and broken floors, wooden pallets inside the refrigerators, drains without siphon, exposed wiring and pedal bins.

Markets have 15 days to present defense according to Sedcon Secretary Gutemberg Fonseca. “Supervisory such as this are constant and aim to guide suppliers and protect consumers. It is inadmissible to find these irregularities, because some endanger public health,” he said.
