He was inspired by names like Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn but also wanted to update the look by mixing different styles from across the eras, like the 1960s ponytails, with a messier style from the 1990s;
- Emily’s hair in hindsight – the super short and wavy bangs – is a direct reference to Audrey Hepburn;
- Antoine’s house is private property in Bonnieux and the lava fields form part of it;
- The hot air balloon scene was filmed at the Château de Montpoupon;
- The L’Esprit de Luberon restaurant scene was filmed in Clover Gordes. The cast and crew loved the food there so much they went back several times to eat there during filming.
- Filming took place in several locations in Paris, including: the Eiffel Tower, Le Jules Verne, Museum of Decorative Arts, Musée d’Orsay, La Nouvelle Eve, Hotel Molitor Paris, Perfume Museum, Parc de la Villette, Tuileries Gardens , Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, Parc de la Villette, Royal Palace Garden, North Station, Perrotin Gallery, Notre-Dame Square, Garnier Palace, Museum of Vie Romantique, Sacré-Coeur Basilica and the Wall of I Love You ;
- For the food in the scene where Emily and Gabriel eat at L’Esprit de Luberon, food stylist Florence Vincent used as many purple-toned foods as possible to maintain the spirit of the lavenders of Provence;
