According to the latest data, the Chinese automobile company Chery intends to stop selling the popular Chery Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 8 Pro crossovers in Russia, which are equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol turbo engine with 170 hp.
More specifically, the company is considering a decision to discontinue production of such an engine. Insiders report that recently cars with such an engine are in demand only in the Russian market, but their share against the background of total sales is very small.
The Russian subsidiary of Chery responded to a request from Motor.ru, stating that no final decision has been made on this issue. The company is discussing the possibility of increasing the supply of vehicles with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a robotic transmission against the background of increased demand for such a modification.

The D4T20 in-line four-cylinder engine with multipoint injection and turbocharging works in conjunction with a CVT9 variator. In Russia, this combination is installed on the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 8 Pro, which are offered at a price of 1,829,900 and 1,999,900 rubles, respectively.
From January to September 2021, Chery sold 24,688 new cars in Russia, which is 288% more than a year earlier. At the same time, sales of Tiggo 8 were 2124 units, and Tiggo 8 Pro was sold 3648 units.
