Today, August 26, Chery officially presented its new Arrizo 8 car at the Chengdu Motor Show, which can be safely called a direct competitor of the popular Toyota Camry in China, according to the Chinese Automobiles publication. The novelty can be purchased for 114 thousand yuan (about 1 million rubles), and it is in this price segment that the Camry is located, but the most important thing in this news is that the giant of the Chinese automotive industry may well bring this vehicle to Russia. Accordingly, fans of a well-known brand will have the opportunity to officially purchase a flagship sedan with subsequent maintenance.
It’s worth starting with the body of the Chery Arrizo 8, which, frankly, is very similar to the Hyundai Elantra 2022 model year – in front you can see an impressive radiator grille, running lights slightly elongated along the hood, large “nostrils” on the bumper and the characteristic shape of the hood. The body shape itself is also quite similar – especially in the rear, where the roof smoothly passes into the trunk, resembling a liftback. And, of course, the manufacturer could not resist the stoplights, which stretched from edge to edge of the rear of the car – quite an interesting design element that the Elantra also has.
I was especially pleased with the interior of the vehicle, which immediately demonstrates to the audience that this is a flagship sedan. For example, behind the steering wheel is a huge digital dashboard screen, which is combined with a second display responsible for the car’s multimedia system. The solution, of course, is far from new, but it looks more than successful in this interior, plus the diagonal of each of the displays is 12.3 inches. It is worth paying attention to the central tunnel – there is a rather compact gear selector, there is a panel for wireless charging of the smartphone and a storage container hidden by a small curtain.
At the presentation, Chery representatives said that Arrizo 8 will be supplied exclusively with a 1.6-liter engine with a capacity of 197 horsepower. In Russia, a similar motor is installed in the Exeed TXL, a premium crossover. Together with this engine, a 7-speed dual-clutch robotic gearbox will work, plus in the near future the manufacturer promises to release models with 1.5- and 2-liter engines under the hood.
