Before the opening of the Guangzhou car dealership, real photos of the brand new Chery crossover, codenamed Chery XC, were leaked on the Web.
It will be the first car announced at the beginning of the year “era 4.0”, which means new engines and transmissions under the generic Kunpeng Power designation, including hybrid systems, as well as the Hydrogen Power platform for hydrogen models.
One of the photos confirms that the car was named Chery Omoda 5. The Chinese SMM has already been informed that Chery plans to produce several cars in a similar style. Chery Omoda 7 and Chery Omoda 8 are expected to hit the market soon, replacing the popular Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro.
The car received a unique radiator grill, which is part of a huge bumper, and not a separate element. Also, Chery Omoda 5 is equipped with narrow LED headlights and taillights. The crossover received black wheels, chrome elements of the rear bumper and a small amount of plastic inserts.
The digital dashboard and the screen of the multimedia and entertainment system are combined into a single unit, which is a fairly common solution for modern Chery cars. The same block is installed in Chery Exeed VX.
According to rumors, the Chery XC will be comparable in size to the Tiggo 4. The car will receive either the 1.5-liter engine from the Tiggo 4, or the 1.6-liter engine from the Acteco family, which is installed in the Exeed TXL.
