The son of Chester Bennington, former vocalist and founder of Linkin Park , Jaime Bennington spoke about the band’s new formation. Jaime publicly criticized Mike Shinoda to choose from Emily Armstrong to take over his father’s position in the band, who died in 2017.
Emily Armstrong has been announced as the new lead singer of Linkin Park. The band, which had not performed since Bennington’s death, announced a new lineup, album and tour.
Through the stories on his Instagram profile, Jaime responded to Shinoda, who defended the new member’s permanence, saying that fans “needed time to understand the change” and that those who disrespected the decision would lose “their respect”.
“Hey Mike! People aren’t having a hard time understanding Linkin Park’s approach to reinventing themselves. They’re having a hard time understanding how you hired your longtime friend to replace Chester knowing about his history of involvement with Scientology and support for Danny Masterson.”
Actor Danny Masterson, known for his role in “That ’70s Show”, was convicted of rape by the United States Justice Department.
Jaime also accused Shinoda of erasing his father’s legacy, considering that September is Suicide Prevention Month. In a subsequent post, Bennington said that Shinoda “betrayed the trust placed in him by decades of fans and fellow human beings who support him.”
“We trusted you to be the better and bigger person. To be the change. Because you promised us that was your intention. Now you’re just senile and deaf,” he added.
