Chevrolet has released an all-electric Equinox EV. This is the brand’s most affordable electric crossover.

The model range of Chevrolet was replenished with one more “electric train”. The new all-electric crossover Chevrolet Equinox EV. This, according to the manufacturer, will be the cheapest SUV with an electric motor in the range of the brand.

The electric Chevrolet Equinox EV shares General Motors’ modular Ultium platform with the Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup truck and the Chevrolet Blazer EV crossover. The new model is offered in two configurations – the base one with front-wheel drive and one electric motor with a capacity of 210 horses at 328 Nm of torque and the top one with all-wheel drive and two motors with a total capacity of 290 horses. Acceleration from zero to 60 miles per hour (97 km / h) for the version with two motors will take about 6 seconds.

What batteries are installed inside the Chevrolet Equinox EV is not specified.

The manufacturer only said that the front-wheel drive modification will be offered with a choice of two types of batteries with a cruising range of 400 and 480 km. And the all-wheel drive version will receive a single battery, which will be able to drive up to 450 km without recharging. At the same time, just 10 minutes of charging will allow the car to travel an additional 70 miles (about 112 km).

Chevrolet Equinox EV received a streamlined body with a modern design. The emphasis is on unusual headlights with animation and hidden door handles. As for the interior, the manufacturer tried to make the interior as spacious and functional as possible, adding various options such as heated seats, steering wheel and wipers, wireless charging for mobile devices and a large dual display on the front panel with an intuitive interface.

In addition, the new Chevrolet electric crossover has numerous security systems and modern assistants to help the driver. There are automatic emergency braking, and collision warning, and braking in front of a pedestrian, and lane departure warning.

The start of sales of the Chevrolet Equinox EV is scheduled for autumn 2023. The car will be available in a total of four trim levels, differing in equipment and decor – 1LT, 2LT, 2RS and 3RS. The estimated cost of the electric crossover starts at $30,000 for the base 1LT. The new model will be assembled at the GM plant in Mexico, where the gasoline Chevrolet Equinox is now being produced.
