Chia developer warned of possible threat from Hpool

Chia cryptocurrency developer Bram Cohen urged miners to abandon unofficial pools and announced the creation of their own protocol by the end of May.

Now miners are being united into pools that are not controlled by the Chia Network. The main one is considered to be the Chinese Hpool with a cumulative hashrate of 2.2 exabytes.

В Share Network warnedthat the client from Hpool is not developed based on the official protocol and could potentially contain malware.

The developers will submit the official code for the pools on the testnet by the end of May. It will support trustworthy low-fee pools that users can switch between.

To join the protocol, miners will need to create new, “transitional” areas (rafts).

 

“What people are doing now is damn unsafe and scary. If you’ve ever transferred your private keys to a pool, I suggest creating a new wallet, moving everything to it and waiting for our protocol to be released, ”wrote Bram Cohen, adding that not planning launching an official pool.
