Chiara Ferragni, investigations into pandoro and Easter eggs closed: the accusation is of aggravated fraud

The Milan Prosecutor’s Office has closed the investigations against Chiara Ferragni for the accusation of aggravated fraudin view of the request for trial. The investigation, coordinated by prosecutor Cristian Barilli and deputy Eugenio Fusco and conducted by the economic and financial police unit of the Gdf, concerns the cases of alleged misleading advertising linked to the sales of pandoro Pink Christmas Balocco and of Easter eggs-Precious Sweetsbetween 2021 and 2022.

The businesswoman’s lawyers believe that the matter has no criminal relevance and that the controversial aspects have already been addressed and resolved within Agcom. We will start a discussion with the public prosecutors as soon as possible and we are confident in a positive conclusion to the matter. Chiara Ferragni has faith in the work of the judiciary and that her innocence will be established as soon as possible».

In addition to Chiara Ferragni, the closing act of the investigation concerns Fabio Damator, former close collaborator, Alessandra Baloccoowner of the company that produces the pandoro in question and Franco Cannillo of Dolci Preziosi. The hypothesized crimes are those of continued and aggravated fraud in relation to the commercial operations «Pandoro Balocco Pink Christmas, Limited Edition Chiara Ferragni» (Christmas 2022) and «Easter Eggs Chiara Ferragni – let’s support the Children of the Fairies» (Easter 2021 and 2022) , as stated in the note from the Prosecutor’s Office. «The investigations have allowed us to reconstruct the planning the dissemination of communications of a deceptive nature, aimed at misleading consumers regarding the connection between the purchase of advertised products and charitable initiatives”.

According to the Milan Prosecutor’s Office, the unfair profit alleged against Chiara Ferragni would be just over 2 million and 200 thousand eurosas written in the notice of closure of the investigations.

«We are faced with a notice of conclusion of the investigations, which will allow a phase of discussion with the Public Prosecutor’s Office from which We hope to highlight the non-criminal relevance of the contested conduct», comment Chiara Ferragni’s lawyers, who reiterate the absence of the «request for trial».

Now, with the closing of the investigation, the defense has 20 days to present documents and briefs or for the interrogation of one’s client, to demonstrate his innocence or the inexistence of the charges and to obtain a request for dismissal. Otherwise, the prosecutors continue with the criminal action with the request for indictment or with the direct summons for trial.
