Chicago PMI index rises surprisingly to 59.5 December

He Chicago Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) it rose in December to 59.5 from 58.2. The reading was higher than the market consensus which was down to 57.0.

He dollar was not favored after the report. The greenback is losing ground on Wednesday on several fronts, hitting lows in years against the euro, the pound and currencies linked to commodities.
