Child falls into 8-meter hole in MG; rescue lasts more than 15 hours

An eight-year-old child fell into a hole approximately 8 meters deep and 30 cm in diameter in Carmo do Paranaíba, in the Alto Paranaíba region, in Minas Gerais.

The incident took place on Rua Adebrão Gomes Branquinho, in the Alvorada neighborhood. The Fire Department was called around 17:00 on Sunday (21). The boy is responsive and has not reported serious injury, according to firefighters, who maintain constant contact with the child.

The work, which already lasts more than 15 hours, is delicate due to the risk of collapse. Firefighters carry out a lateral access strategy at the moment, with a technical and manual excavation next to the hole.

The site is also being reinforced in a preventive manner against possible landslides.

A medical team from the municipality supports the work and provided an ambulance on site. In all, three teams are involved in the incident.
