The Ministry of Health projects that the start of the distribution of doses of Coronavac for the vaccination against Covid-19 of children aged three and four should take place in September. A month ago, the folder officially recommended the use of the immunizing agent for this public.
As negotiations for the acquisition of the vaccine are still in progress, some cities in the country register a lack of stock, such as Rio de Janeiro, Brasília and Cuiabá.
In the state capital, for example, the application of the 1st dose will complete a week of interruption this Tuesday (16).
The campaign continues only for the 2nd dose, with immunizers previously reserved by the Municipal Health Department to guarantee the 28-day interval indicated by the manufacturer.
In a note, the Ministry of Health reported that “it is in negotiations to acquire the immunizer more quickly, according to the availability of delivery of doses by suppliers.”
It also announced that it closely monitors the progress for all audiences. Although “it reiterates the availability of other vaccines against Covid-19 for the public over 5 years old and reinforces the need for states and municipalities to comply with the guidelines agreed to guarantee the immunization of the Brazilian population.”
In Brazil, data from LocalizaSus, a federal government system, show that 288,351 children aged three and four received their first dose, 4.97% of the estimated target audience. In relation to the second dose, this rate drops to 0.06%, with 3,842 immunized.
A survey of CNN shows that, among Brazilian states, at least five register a lack of immunizations. They are: Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Rio Grande do Norte and Paraíba.
