Despite the various advances in three years of the pandemic, one of the country’s flaws is still the slow advance of vaccination against Covid-19 among children and babies, according to infectologist Luana Araújo.
“Our children are not able to be vaccinated as they deserve and as they have a right to, and this is due to ignorance, lack of information,” she said in an interview with CNN this Sunday (12). Luana was one of the professionals who spoke to the Covid CPI in Congress in 2021.
“There is a lack of information from parents, who cannot access decent information to understand the risks and benefits and why to get vaccinated, and from health professionals, who often do not have the technical knowledge to recommend based on evidence, and sometimes , do not recommend vaccinating, and this is absolutely incorrect. It is a medical error not to recommend the vaccine for children and also for pregnant women.”
Luana also spoke about the importance of vaccination against Mpox, the disease that became known as “monkey pox” and which begins its immunization in Brazil this Monday (13), and also the most modern version of vaccines against HPV that arrived in Brazil, but still restricted to the private network.
