It is a problem of thousands of Italian families which has exploded with the multiplication of Omicron variant infections, with the number of quarantined classes always higher: when a child is forced into quarantine, and therefore to follow the school through distance learning (DaD), parents find it difficult to work and have to follow their children during lessons. A serious problem that affects the whole family. Fortunately, a crack arrives in the INPS communication of 10 January, which offers the “SARS CoV-2 parental leave”. Only requirement: have one SPID to access the portal.
The requirements
The INPS in this case communicated what was established at the beginning of the year, namely the extension to March 31, 2022 of the terms for using the already active SARS CoV-2 parental leave. The measure is dedicated to «dependent working parents, for the care of cohabiting children under the age of 14 suffering from Covid-19, in contact quarantine or with didactic or educational activity in suspended presence and, without age limits and regardless of cohabitation, for the care of children with disabilities in a situation of ascertained seriousness.
But how recognized is it? «For the periods of abstention enjoyed, it is recognized an allowance equal to 50% of the salary or the income according to the working category of the parent requesting the leave and the periods are covered by notional contributions “.
How to submit the application
Instructions are available here (step 2). The application can be made exclusively online and the details include in particular how to access the request, as well as details relating to times, days and monthly limits for submitting the application. At this address you can ask the question by entering your personal SPID credentials.
Of course, SARS CoV-2 parental leave does not solve the problems of children in DaD, but it allows at least to alleviate their impact on the family during this complicated beginning of 2022. Until March 31, parental leave is an option that is certainly viable even for those who is in smart working.
