A survey shows that 34% of Brazilians will shop online for Children’s Day, celebrated this Wednesday (12). The number represents an increase of 4 percentage points compared to the same date last year. The data were released this Tuesday (11) by the company NielsenIQ, which specializes in consumer behavior analysis.
According to the survey, which included the response of 2,000 people, Brazilians must pay between R$51 and R$250 for gifts.
The greater demand for Brazilian e-commerce this Children’s Day is related to the improvement in the country’s economic scenario, especially the drop in the unemployment rate – which was 13.1%, in the quarter between June and August 2021, to 8 .9% in the same period this year—, the stabilization of interest rates, albeit at a level of 13.75%, and the deceleration of inflation. This is what NielsenIQ’s economic chief, Marcelo Osanai, points out.
“This relieves a little income and allows families to spend more on gifts on Children’s Day,” he said.
The growth of the sector was already observed in 2021, when 11.9 million orders were registered, up 33% over the previous year.
In this period, according to NielsenIQ research, the toys and electronics category was the highlight, with a 32% increase in demand. Among the products, cards for video games registered a growth of 104%, carts and vehicles, of 51%, and scooters, of 18%.
See what precautions to take when shopping online
For Children’s Day, consumers who wish to buy online should take some precautions.
THE CNN , lawyer and consumer law specialist Jonas Augusto warns of very low prices. According to him, online purchases need to happen on trusted sites, in order to avoid fraud and scams.
“We advise the consumer to take a photo or a print of the advertising that was of interest. There have already been several cases of stores that promise one thing in the advertisement and charge differently from the customer. With the advertising print, the consumer can prove it”, said the lawyer.
Problems can be registered with consumer protection agencies in each state. The Procon of Rio de Janeiro, for example, released a booklet in which it remembers, for example, the deadline for returning the product. The consumer has up to seven days to regret the purchase, regardless of the reason. If you decide to return the goods, the citizen must receive the amount paid in full, including shipping costs.
